Charlie chalplin’s “Geat Dictator” speech is one of only two places in literature (that I know of) calling for soldiers to turn their guns around on their own masters. We used to show “the Great Dictator” to soldiers during the US war against Vietnam for that reason.
Sorry, don’t mean to be rude. What’s the other place in literature your thinking of? Also, was it our own government showing this speech to our soldiers? In order to instill in the soldiers that freedom is what they were truly trying to fight for?

There are surely other instances of this call to arms against the rulers, but never said with such compassion and belief in humanity.
